Marsh Run Project Timeline


June 2000 - Old Dominion purchases 252 acres for proposed Marsh Run Station.

July 2000 - Old Dominion files applications with Fauquier County for 760-megawatt peaking generation station east of Remington.

October 2000 - June 2001 - Old Dominion presents proposal to various community and civic organizations.

January 2001 - Old Dominion hosts two open houses at Hugo's; more than 450 citizens attend.

April 2001 - Fauquier Citizens for Co-op Power is formed.

May 2001 - The Fauquier Citizen endorses the Marsh Run Station.

May - October 2001 - FCCP members draft a dozen letters to the editor that appear in both community newspapers.

May 31, 2001 - The Planning Commission votes three-to-two to recommend approval of the Marsh Run Station.

August 2001 - The Fauquier Times-Democrat endorses the Marsh Run Station. 

August 18, 2001 - Nearly 300 supporters attend the Marsh Run Rally.

August 20, 2001 - More than 100 Marsh Run supporters present a petition with more than 750 signatures at the Board of Supervisors hearing.

October 15, 2001 - The Board of Supervisors votes three-to-one in favor of the Marsh Run Station.

May 21, 2002 - The State Corporation Commission holds a public hearing on Old Dominion's application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity permit for the Marsh Run Station.

February 14, 2003 - The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) issued a Stationary Source Permit To Construct And Operate (Permit) to Old Dominion Electric Cooperative for its Marsh Run Generation Facility.  This Permit was the remaining major permit that was necessary to begin construction. 

June 2003 - Construction of the Marsh Run Station scheduled to begin.

June 2004 - The Marsh Run Station tentatively scheduled to open.
